is Victoria’s largest alpine resort with over 450 hectares of resort area in Australia’s only true ski-in ski out village. Cars are not permitted in the village once the roads are snow-covered. The village has an integrated lift system, a snowboard terrain park, and extensive snowmaking and slope grooming. Learn-to-ski and snowboard programs are offered for all ages and all stages. Child care facilities are available for children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Families can also enjoy snow bikes, backcountry snowmobiles, the snow shoe shuffle, or try the snow tube park. Kat skiing or boarding the slopes of Mt. Mckay, and the Heli-link to Mt. Hotham are great options. Falls Creek is also the official training centre of the national cross-country ski team. Trails are cut and marked, and hire and lessons are also available.
Ski shops, rental outlets, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, day spa, supermarket, and a movie theatre, complete the picture.
There are more than 92 runs at Falls Creek, with the highest lifted point at 1780m. The village altitude is 1600m. The longest advanced run is ‘wishing well’ (3km), and the longest beginners run is ‘wombats ramble (2.2km). The terrain over the whole ski area is 17% beginners, 60% intermediate, and 23% advanced.
Travel to Falls Creek is by road (1.5 hrs from Albury, 4.5 hrs from Melbourne, 8.5 hrs from Sydney, for example), or by air or rail to Albury and then by coach (contact Falls Creek Coach Services - details below) to Falls Creek. Cars may be parked in the carparks adjoining the ski village, or at Mt. Beauty with a coach connection to Falls Creek (50 minutes).
